Amsterdam is quite famous, and also perhaps infamous, throughout Europe as a city that embraces life in all its aspects. It is known for its historic districts and canals, especially the Singelgracht Seventeenth-Century Canal Ring Area, now inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There’s also the diverse cultural scenes, representing folks from all over the world, from crafts in shops to amazing cuisine in the food markets. Even the performance venues are packed with all sorts of acts, including bands, theatre or dance troupes, and comedy acts. With so many things happening, I’m sure you’re wondering how to experience as many of them as you can. Fret not, for we’ve prepared a list of the top Airbnb vacation rentals in Amsterdam’s city centre just for you!

Popular picks in Amsterdam’s city centre:

Amsterdam’s central district, called by locals as “Centrum,” offers a storied range of places that tourists from all walks of life can enjoy. Below is a list of favourite attractions that the city’s residents hold close to their hearts.

  • Arts and culture: Fans of fine art should pay a visit to the Rembrandt House Museum and stroll through a masterful collection of works made by the painter known for his upfront realism. If you're rather into photography, you'll be in luck when you stop by the Foam Photography Museum and Huis Marseille.
  • History: Amsterdam's centre is steeped in historical gems and remnants of days gone by, interspersed with more modern structures. The Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder and Museum Van Loon provide significant insights of the Netherlands' Golden Age. Those who wish to look deeper into the city's history should check out the Amsterdam City Archives.
  • Entertainment venues: Looking to let off your steam after a day of gallivanting? Centrum has got you covered. The district is home to Boom Chicago, the premier spot for improv shows and English-language comedy, as well as the groundbreaking theatre and stage production house Frascati. The former church-turned-events venue Paradiso is the eclectic spot for live music and nightlife.
  • Shopping and dining: Your experience in Amsterdam won't be complete if you don't splurge your cash for a shopping and dining spree. The Noordermarkt, which opens on Mondays and Saturdays, sells various items that range from clothing and textiles to precious antique items. The city's iconic waterfront makes for a perfect setting for food breaks and drinking sessions, and Hannekes Boom is the epitome of this type of experience.

We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and amenities. The image galleries get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on March 18, 2026.

From transportation tips to medical essentials and everything in between, the Amsterdam local guides share all the must-know information to help you plan your trip.

1. Studio Huis Roomolen (from USD 416)

Very clean and well-decorated apartment.
Hosts are friendly, responsive, and helpful.
Perfect location, quiet yet central.
Fully equipped with thoughtful details.
Great value for the experience.
Well-furnished, stylish, and comfortable.

Located along Roomolenstraat, a small street in between canals named after a red windmill, Studio Huis Roomolen offers guests a well-organised retreat from the hustle and bustle of the Centrum. Some of my favorite aspects of the home are the vivid decor and patterns that help bring the interiors to life. There are also the large windows that provide great sights of the street from up above.

Apart from being able to access everything the studio offers, from the kitchen to the bathroom, you’ll also get to explore the private terrace attached to the property, enclosed by neighbouring buildings and surrounded by plants. The hosts live above the accommodation, and throughout the building, they’re usually the only occupants apart from visiting guests.

More information about the property:

  • Located in a serene area that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Airbnb is only a stroll away from some of the designer boutiques, shops, coffee shops, and public transport. Sightseeing should be a breeze as you will find everything from taxis, boats, and bicycle rentals to trains, trams, and the metro within 10 minutes of walking near the Central Station. Do note that paid parking service is available off the premises inside a multistory car park, should you bring your car.

2. Chic studio inside a historical canal home (from USD 748)

Spotless and well-maintained studio space.
Judith is friendly, responsive, and helpful.
Perfectly located near shops and attractions.
Cozy with thoughtful touches and a kitchen.
Well worth the price for the quality.
Beautifully designed and cozy accommodations.

Inside one of many heritage canal homes lining up the streets of Jordaan Amsterdam in Haarlemmerdijk, you’ll find this studio apartment with quite a unique charm. The chic rental spans 35 sq m (376.74 sq ft), provides enough space for solo goers and pairs of guests, and is packed with plenty of useful amenities on the first floor. Guests can drift off to peaceful slumber on the king-sized bed and fix meals in the equipped kitchen.

If you’re not up for cooking, I suggest heading downstairs to grab a salad at the ground-floor restaurant. There are other good eateries, cafes, and bars within walking distance, such as the Brouwersgracht Canal and the Anne Frank House, so you’ll never run out of options. Cap the day off by unwinding on the attached roof deck, with your drink of choice in tow.

Recommendations from the host, Judith:

  • Great diners: SLA (located right below the apartment); De Willem (Haarlemmerplein 58, 1013 HS); Toscanini (Lindengracht 75, 1015 KD); d&a Hummus Bistro (Westerstraat 136, 1015 MP); The Breakfast Club (Bellamystraat 2-h, 1053 BL).
  • Solid coffee and drinks: Toki (Binnen Dommersstraat 15, 1013 HK); Wakuli Specialty Coffee Shop (Haarlemmerplein 43, 1013 HS).
  • Shopping destinations: Sukha Amsterdam (Haarlemmerstraat 110, 1013 EW); Velour (Huidenstraat 14, 1016 ES).
  • Hangout spots: The Westerpark is a highly recommended spot for summer picnic gatherings and family activities. Surrounding the area are a few establishments and niche businesses.

3. Houseboat Jupiter (from USD 483)

Well-maintained and exceptionally clean.
Hosts are friendly and responsive.
Superb location, central to attractions.
Well-equipped and spacious accommodations.
Great value for a unique experience.
Charming, cozy, and well-decorated boat.

Once named the “most beautiful houseboat” by the Dutch magazine VLOT in 2015, Houseboat Jupiter possesses enough satisfying features to deserve this prestigious title. Spanning two floors, the property was built entirely from scratch and, since its opening in 2015, has served many who want to experience life in an Amsterdam houseboat.

The Airbnb houseboat rental will fascinate couples with the top-floor bedroom and the skylight located right above the bed for a romantic moment. There are other mainstays here that I know you’ll love as well, including a fully equipped kitchen/living/dining area and a spotless bathroom below it. Houseboat Jupiter enjoys a great location that overlooks the iconic bridge of Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) and the Amstel River and is only a few steps away from H'ART Museum Hermitage Amsterdam.

Nestled in a renovated bed and breakfast on the rear end of the host’s house, this air-conditioned room is a private and relaxing stay suitable for couples and solo travellers. The bedroom has a double bed that ensures a good night’s rest. It also features a dedicated workspace and central heating. Although there is no TV available, there is Wi-Fi provided for entertainment. Staying in this rental comes with a free daily breakfast at De Laatste Kruimel, a bakery café with delicious treats that I have a feeling you’ll love. You’ll also get to explore other facilities within the property, including a massage centre.

Because of the property’s strategic location, guests can enjoy easy access to several points of interest. Bars, restaurants, and museums are found within walking distance of the property. Dam Square, which features historic monuments, is only a minute away. The best way to explore Amsterdam is by bike - the host offers enticing discounts over at the bike rental next door.

5. Het Behouden Huis (from USD 696)

Sparkling clean and very well maintained.
Excellent and responsive hosts throughout stay.
Perfectly situated in a quiet neighborhood.
Cozy with wonderful tub and patio access.
Charming and stylish with cozy features.

Artistic and well-located, Het Behouden Huis is on the ground floor and provides an ideal home base in the historical centre of Jordaan in Amsterdam. It is conveniently close to bars, restaurants, and several tourist attractions. The Anne Frank House, a famous biographical museum dedicated to the wartime diarist, is a stroll from the property.

Amenities in the rental include heating for comfort and a travel crib for a family’s convenience. In addition to Wi-Fi, there is also a TV with standard cable provided for entertainment, as well as sparse kitchen amenities, such as a fridge and coffee maker. The property also offers a backyard with seating, a perfect spot for sipping one’s morning coffee in my opinion.

Recommendations from the host, Judith:

  • Food and drinks: Café De Klepel (Prinsenstraat 22, 1015 DD); De Plantage (Plantage Kerklaan 36, 1018 CZ); Latei (Zeedijk 143, 1012 AW); Café de Jaren (Nieuwe Doelenstraat 20-20, 1012 CP).
  • Shopping: Albert Cuyp Market (open Mondays to Saturdays, Albert Cuypstraat, 1073 BD); Albert Heijn supermarket (21 Westermarkt); and De Hallen Amsterdam (Hannie Dankbaarpassage 47, 1053 RT).

6. Olivia houseboat (from USD 788)

The houseboat is very clean and cozy.
Rinze is friendly and very responsive.
Perfect location, close to everything you need.
Cozy space with all needed amenities.
Modern and well-maintained houseboat.

If you’re one for a unique getaway, then this fully furnished houseboat in the canals of Amsterdam is perfect for you. Moored on the canal of Brouwersgracht near the heritage district of Jordaan, it has two separate studios, one of which is occupied by the host. The rental is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate you and one other. It features heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a standard cable TV.

Beside the king-sized bed is a kitchenette that offers essentials, such as a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Although I think it is somewhat underequipped in other cooking amenities, there are plenty of food options available nearby – thanks to the prime location of the houseboat. Restaurants and quaint cafes can be found within walking distance. A wide array of food specialty shops are available in the surrounding area as well. If you would like to do some sightseeing, make sure you visit the nearby headquarters of the Dutch East India Company. Guests can travel from the Amsterdam Central Train station to the Airbnb in a taxi that will charge approximately 10 EUR (10.78 USD). Should you plan to bring your car, you can park it in the nearby garage at Oosterdok.

7. Studio Koggeschip (from USD 235)

Couples and families visiting Amsterdam will find Studio Koggeschip a great place to stay. Apart from the wonderful Art Deco and Art Nouveau furnishings, there are also modern conveniences, such as Wi-Fi and a TV. Although there is a kitchen available in the unit, I think guests should also opt for local food options found near the property.

It features a central location close to a wide array of restaurants, shops, and nightlife scenes. Amsterdam Centraal Station, the city’s largest railway station, is only minutes away. Although convenient, the location is also quiet enough to allow guests to enjoy a sense of peace.

8. Centrally located apartment best for families (from USD 559)

Impeccably clean and well-maintained apartments.
Excellent and prompt communication from hosts.
Perfect location, central to attractions.
Well-equipped with modern comforts and thoughtful touches.

16. Room on the 12th floor near Rembrandtpark (from USD 274)

To see a beautiful city in all its glory, it’s sometimes necessary to get up above it. That’s why cityscape photos are so popular, and why I have a hunch the 12th-floor apartment’s room is such a perfect base from which to experience Amsterdam. The accommodation sits within Rembrandtpark, which offers enough green spaces for soothing activities.

The bedroom features a king-sized bed; the host is a fount of knowledge when it comes to the best places to go and the best things to see in his city. Additionally, It is one of the cheap Airbnb vacation rentals in Amsterdam that will let you save your money for other things. Thanks to easy transportation access, you’ll be 15 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam Centrum.

17. Bright room for solo goers in a top location (from USD 124)

This room is located in the hip backstreet of Haarlemmerstreet and has a small double bed and a private bathroom. Situated on the Brouwersgracht canal, it only takes a brief stroll to reach Centraal Station. Complimentary coffee awaits you when you need to have your caffeine fix. Not only will you enjoy a ton of privacy, but you’re also assured of being in a safe area. I also find it ideal that you can walk almost everywhere you need to go in the downtown area.

You have access to modern features, such as Wi-Fi that’s fast enough for remote work and streaming, and an EV charger. There is heating within the room, and paid parking is available off the premises. Long-term stays are allowed. The rental does not allow smoking, private parties, or events. No pets are allowed and it’s not ideal for children under the age of 12.

18. Private attic studio with roof terrace (from USD 101)

This private room, with access to a smoke-friendly roof terrace, comes with nice views of the city. The small attic studio can sleep up to two people. This comfortable space includes a private bathroom with a rain shower attachment. Further, if you wish to cater for yourself, the unit has a small kitchen equipped with a fridge and a microwave.

For your convenience, there is a dining table, which you can also use as a workspace. Television is provided for your entertainment, as is free Wi-Fi. Within 30 minutes by foot and ferry, you will find yourself in the buzzing main city streets. Your unit is located close to the hustle and bustle, yet set in a calm and very hip area of town. Free breakfast is served in the studio daily, which I personally would take advantage of. A washing machine and dryer are available for laundry.

19. Affordable private room inside CityHub Amsterdam (from USD 224)

Presented by the innovative conscious travel startup CityHub, this Airbnb vacation rental takes on the form of what’s called a Hub. The Hub is similar to a capsule hotel that only comes with the essential conveniences, such as a bed, internet connectivity, and shared bathrooms. Here, apart from your room, you’ll have a locker where you can store your valuables. Other common areas include the self-service bar that will let you make your drinks and a hangout area where you can mingle with like-minded travellers. Booking your accommodation here will surely help you make new friends.

In my opinion, the CityHub hotel in Amsterdam is very convenient in terms of location. With De Hallen, a local gym, and several shops and cafes as your next-door neighbours, you’ll never run out of new places and experiences to discover.
