Just over 30 minutes from Lucena City is Tayabas, Quezon. This is where you’ll find the Minor Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel. The church is where Museo Diocesano de Lucena is housed. This museum displays statues of the apostles and different religious events. From time to time, Museo Diocesano de Lucena will hold seasonal exhibits such as Canonically Crowned Marian Images that I’m sure any art and culture enthusiast will appreciate. They also hold parish tours and holiday visits often attended by pilgrims and devouts from other town parishes.

Pacific Mall boasts all kinds of shops and restaurants, allowing everyone to roam around and not get bored. This place is perfect if you want to buy good quality clothes that are of budget-friendly price, you also have lots of clothing brands to choose from. A well-loved restaurant here is Buddy's, which is Quezon Province's most notable achievements. This restaurant is known for its delicious sizzling sisig, pizza, and, of course, the famous halo-halo. There are also times when the mall hosts art exhibits and workshops.
When you are visiting here during the right season, you can head to the parking lot of the mall and see it converted into a small yet fun amusement park!
5. Relax in the Perez Park
If you are looking for some greenery and don’t know where to go in Lucena, I recommend heading to the magnificent Perez park. The lush green park with colourful gardens and a playground is totally blissful. The park is divided into four sections - playground section with food stalls, rock monument section with fishpond, shrine section with fishpond and a multicoloured jet fountain section. The presence of such gorgeous landscapes makes it one of the most beautiful parks here. Visit this park to have some time away from the brick and mortar world and relax and rejuvenate yourself.

Perez Park is situated in the downtown area of Lucena City and is often visited by those who just want to enjoy a leisurely stroll alone or with loved ones. One of the things I like about this park is that it is close to many establishments worth checking out, such as the famed Quezon Convention Center and the Post Office. The gorgeous Perez Park is also the location of the annual Niyogyugan Festival, which is celebrated to honor coconut farmers. During the festival, you can see creative floats, live performances, and locally made products.
While you are here, you can just place a mat on the grassy field and enjoy the laughter of the people and the beauty of the night sky.

Enjoy a tour of the Lucena Fish Port Complex that is a large multi-storey complex selling seafood. Although a commercial establishment, the complex has large individual customers who visit to procure fresh fish for the household. This government-owned complex has contributed to the country’s food security by supporting an environmentally sustainable and competitive fishing industry through technologically advanced post-harvest facilities and infrastructure. There’s a good refrigeration system too which makes it the best place to buy some fish in Lucena.

When in Lucena, you can also take a tour of the Saint Ferdinand Cathedral which is over 100 years old. I’m sure this historical site will take you on a virtual time travel. The construction is said to have begun in the 19th century and completed with absolute beautification and architecture work. The massive structure soon becomes a major landmark of Lucena and also a common meet up place. Lots of people pass by the Patio of St. Ferdinand Cathedral every day, while some also offer prayers. Near this Lucena City tourist attraction, you can also find food joints.

St. Ferdinand Cathedral has long been a part of Lucena City, and it is considered one of the most significant establishments in the area. Thanks to its convenient location downtown, many people flock here to attend Sunday masses. The Catholic church also hosts various religious-based events, such as weddings and christenings. One of the things I love about this property is that it is always so beautiful at night with all the lights — especially during the Christmas season!
After attending mass, you can easily visit several budget-friendly eateries and shops as the are just close by. Right in front of the church is Jollibee, as well.

14. Try pork binagoongan
A national favourite of Lucena in terms of food is the Pork Binagoongan, and if you’re a foodies, I recommend trying this one. The pork is prepared in a Filipino style and eaten with rice for lunch or dinner. Found in almost all restaurants, it is a specialty in the Philippines. It is very similar to Pinatisan, which is cooked with patis (fish sauce). In this dish, the meat is braised in bagoong alamang (shrimp paste), garlic, black peppercorns, and bay leaves. Some recipes also add pineapples, chilis, or coconut cream to balance the flavours. The dish is quite salty with a strong umami flavour, which is why it is always paired with white rice.

Editor's Note: There's no photo available at the time of writing
Pasayahan sa Lucena is held every year in May and is the perfect way to enjoy the local food and culture. It is a festival of color, music, and energy. Some even compare it to Mardi Gras in Brazil in terms of spirit. During this lively festival, the streets come alive with parades, energetic performances, and amazing costumes that show off local culture.
One of the best parts is the chami cooking and eating contests. I’m sure foodies will love the opportunity to taste Lucena’s famous egg noodle dish.
