Unlike more well-known shopping malls such as Tunjungan Plaza or Plaza Surabaya in Central Surabaya, Galaxy Mall Surabaya’s location in East Surabaya may require some people to put in extra effort to get there.
Fortunately, the Trans Semanggi bus from Tunjungan Plaza’s Kaliasin bus stop can take you to the mall’s Kertajaya Indah bus stop. Additionally, the “Galaxy” bus stops right in front of Galaxy Mall 3 (the new and modernized Galaxy Mall) and Galaxy Mall 1 (the old Galaxy Mall), connecting to Trans Semanggi’s electric bus’ Purabaya bus stop route.
Galaxy Mall Surabaya also includes Galaxy Mall 2, which is adjacent to Galaxy Mall 1. Both Galaxy Mall 1 and 2 are the older portions of Galaxy Mall, making Galaxy Mall 3 the most modernized and stylish area.
Visitors can also expect a unique culinary experience throughout all areas of the mall. There are some stalls and restaurants that I think should not be missed when you’re here. Keep scrolling to discover the 14 food items in Galaxy Mall Surabaya that you must try before you depart!
1. Bubble tea
I would say that neither locals nor tourists would feel complete leaving Galaxy Mall without enjoying their favorite boba. After all, Galaxy Mall is a paradise for bubble tea drinks!
The Chatime Atealier outlet in Surabaya is located in Galaxy Mall 1. Kenangan Signature in Galaxy Mall 3 is also the sole one in Surabaya. Additionally, you can find other outlets such as Teazzi and Xing Fu Tang.
I always opt for the less (or no) sweet and less ice choices when I have bubble tea. It’s a healthier option!
2. Gindaco's Takoyaki - Chatime Atealier - Galaxy Mall 1
Galaxy Mall 1’s Chatime Atelier not only remains the sole Chatime Atelier outlet in Surabaya but also combines with other brands from the Kawan Lama Group in one store. Gindaco, a local brand known for its specialty in takoyaki, is among them.
Eating takoyaki is always more enjoyable with at least one friend! I feel satisfied after having just two takoyaki balls for dinner.
Make sure to try the exclusive blends available only at the Atelier, such as the royal oat milk tea blends, to complement the takoyaki.
3. Pizza Hut Ristorante - Galaxy Mall 1
I am sure everyone in the world knows the Pizza Hut brand. However, what about Pizza Hut Ristorante? It is only available in Indonesia, specifically at Galaxy Mall 1. Pizza Hut Ristorante at Galaxy Mall 1 always offers dishes with unparalleled taste.
I highly recommend trying their pizza dishes with extra melted cheese at Pizza Hut Ristorante in Galaxy Mall 1. For lunch, I usually opt for their pasta dishes. I often take the pizza to go because I find it difficult to finish it by myself.
4. Food Galaxy food court - Galaxy Mall 3
The food court in Galaxy Mall 3, called Food Galaxy, not only has a unique spaceship theme, but it also offers a variety of authentic local Surabaya foods, such as Sate Tretes and Soto Ambengan Pak Sadi.
I would say this place is perfect for hanging out and enjoying affordable food! Most of the dishes here cost less than IDR50,000 (3.11 USD). I recommend looking for seats near the spaceship or sky-themed ceilings to enhance your dining experience!
All you need to do is go to the stall of your choice. They will give you a temporary receipt, which you should then take to the main cashier. Let them know where you will be sitting, and the servers will bring your order from the stall.
5. Greenly's Lean Bowl - Galaxy Mall 1
Greenly’s Lean Bowl location is a hidden gem, especially if you take the walking elevator that connects the Boost juice tenant to Galaxy Mall 3. Alternatively, you can walk through the Century Healthcare shop and go upstairs from there.
I enjoy salads for both lunch and dinner. However, Greenly’s Lean Bowl plated rice takes the healthy option to another level. It also helps us keep track of our calories.
One of my favorites is the Lean Crying Tiger Steak Plate, which contains around 421 kcal per portion. It’s perfect for lunch! They also offer dishes with less than 300 kcal, such as the Sous-Vide Chicken Shirataki Noodle Plate, which is a great option for dinner.
6. Holy Cheese Sushi - Sushi Hiro - Galaxy Mall 1
I first discovered Sushi Hiro while I was exploring Plaza Indonesia in Jakarta back in November 2019. Now, Sushi Hiro has opened a new location at Galaxy Mall. Specifically, this upscale sushi restaurant is just a few steps away from Pintu 3 (the 3rd Entrance Door), making it easily accessible for pedestrians and Grab app users.
Based on their serving style, it seems that they named one of their dishes “Holy Cheese” because the sushi is immersed in melting cheese and served in a stone pot. It brings to mind a baptism ceremony taking place in a swimming pool.
Among the various protein options available, I opted for beef to enhance the harmonious flavors between the beef inside the sushi roll and the melting cheese.
(P.S.: Don’t forget to call the waiters as soon as you notice that the cheese sauce is boiling!)
7. Italian dark chocolate gelato with Suprema XV sauce at Venchi - Galaxy Mall 3
The reason why more tourists love Galaxy Mall 3 doesn’t only lie in its modernized tenants. It also happens to be the first shopping mall in Surabaya to introduce Jakarta’s Venchi.
Although Jakarta may have been the first city where I encountered Venchi, Surabaya’s Galaxy Mall 3 outlet holds the distinction of being the first Venchi outlet where I could enjoy their gelato products.
I made a mistake by ordering a triple-scoop, and I ended up feeling incredibly full after eating it all alone! If you want to enhance the flavor, you can add their wonderfully flavored Suprema XV sauce to your cupped or cone gelato.
8. Hotteok at Mydongsaeng - Galaxy Mall 2
Having hotteok as its flagship product gives Mydongsaeng, a Surabaya-based SME, a K-pop vibe. Indeed, you can try the classic variant here, referred to as the red bean hotteok.
I love the crispiness of the flour! It blends well with the red bean filling inside. Lately, they have also introduced a new flavor called “Nutella Hotteok”.
By the way, they also sell frozen hotteok options! If you are staying at any Surabaya properties with fridges, this is your chance to take it as oleh-oleh, also known as a gift!
9. Triple Chocolate Crepes at D'Crepes - Galaxy Mall 1
My time at Tunjungan Plaza in 1999 was when I first discovered the D'Crepes brand, an Indonesian F&B SME that specializes in authentic Indonesian crepe products.
Since D'Crepes is an older brand, not many branches are able to maintain the same delicious taste. However, I must commend Galaxy Mall 1 for their exceptional preparation of the crepe products.
In my opinion, Galaxy Mall 1’s D'Crepes is a trailblazer when it comes to innovative and delectable crepe flavors! I especially enjoy the rich flavors found in their Triple Chocolate crepe. It’s a unique offering that you won’t find at other D'Crepes outlets in Surabaya!
10. Friendchip cookie with Kendaga mocktail at Kenangan Signature - Galaxy Mall 3
PT Bumi Berkah Boga’s Kopi Kenangan outlets might be everywhere in Indonesia, but there is only one Kenangan Signature store in Surabaya by this company. If you’re looking for Surabaya’s only Kenangan Signature, you can find it directly when you enter Galaxy Mall 3 from the 10th Entrance, also known as Pintu 10.
The thing that sets Kenangan Signature apart from ordinary Kopi Kenangan brands is their mocktails. Here, I highly recommend trying their Kendaga mocktail. Last time, I chose Bener Meriah, a slightly acidic and tangy-flavored bean, and requested it to be “Less Sweet” in order to enhance the flavors without being overwhelmed by excessive sugar.
The Friendchip cookie is my favorite cookie! It not only has chocolate chips, but it also has coarse sea salt as a topping.
11. Kopi Titik Koma at Axel Vinesse by UBS Gold - Galaxy Mall 3
Wondering what it’s like to sip your favorite coffee blends in a jewelry store? If so, you might want to check out Kopi Titik Koma, located inside a jewelry store in Galaxy Mall 3.
It can be a decent alternative to Kenangan Signature. I am dying to try their Einspanner products! Unfortunately, there aren’t many plant-based options available here.
If you love their fresh milk-based and cookie products, all you need to do is take a few steps back from Kenangan Signature!
Clue: Kenangan Signature will be on your left side, while Kopi Titik Koma will be on the right.
12. Fresh fruits at Fruto Gelato - Galaxy Mall 1
I rarely come across fresh fruits for sale in Surabaya, unless I visit a five-star hotel. However, we are all aware of how expensive their meals can be.
Fortunately, at Galaxy Mall 1’s Fruto Gelato, you can find fresh fruit products, despite it being a gelato-selling store. You can select a specific fruit, and the seller will cut it for you. The price starts as low as 5,000 IDR (0.31 USD).
It’s a fantastic way to save money, isn’t it? After having my lunch, I usually enjoy these types of healthy snacks.
13. Vegan cookies at Naked Dough inside SATURDAYS Optik Galaxy 2
There are numerous aesthetically pleasing and innovative coffee spots around Galaxy Mall, and SATURDAYS Optik Galaxy 2 is no exception.
While SATURDAYS Optik Galaxy 2 can also be found in other shopping malls in Surabaya, such as Tunjungan Plaza, the outlet at Galaxy Mall offers a unique coffee shop experience with the Naked Dough brand.
I think this is the perfect place to indulge in delicious coffee and cookie products while getting your eyes checked for health purposes!
14. Poke bowls at Poke Theory - Galaxy Mall 3
Poke Theory at Galaxy Mall 3 can be a smart dining option for lunch or dinner in a shopping mall. Instead of ordinary jasmine rice, the menu features organic rice options such as brown rice. Additionally, there is a wide selection of vegetables and healthy proteins to choose from.
Initially, I believed that the poke bowls at Poke Theory were similar to Crunchaus, the nearby salad stall at Galaxy Mall 3. However, I was mistaken because the creator is the same as the one behind Brew Me kombucha products, which I frequently find in local supermarkets like Hokky.
By the way, you can also find the same kombucha varieties at this restaurant! They are perfect for lunch, dinner, or even as a late-night snack for those looking to lose weight.

Between 3pm and 5pm is the best time to visit Galaxy Mall 1-3. This will allow you to enjoy coffee or tea breaks before dinner at any of the mentioned eating places.
If you’re using public transport, you can reach Galaxy Mall 1 by walking 650 m (2,132.55 ft) from the Kertajaya Indah bus stop if you take Trans Semanggi’s K2L bus. Alternatively, you can use the newly launched K3L electric bus which stops directly in front of Galaxy Mall 1 and 3.
