2. Stafford's Bay View Inn (from USD 117)

Stafford’s Bay View Inn was built in 1886 by John Wesly Howard and was called Woodland Avenue House. The property underwent some renovations and name changes until 1935 when it was named Bay View Inn.

The Smith family became its innkeepers when it was sold in 1961. They restored and maintained the grandeur of this Victorian-style inn for over 60 years. Thanks to their efforts, it is now the oldest summer hotel in the northern area of Michigan’s Grand Rapids.

Here, you’ll find spacious guest rooms and suites oozing with unique interiors and old-world charm. Some rooms offer a gorgeous view of Little Traverse Bay. To round off your experience, enjoy Sunday brunch at its on-site restaurant.

3. The Earl (from USD 185)

This historic boutique hotel in the Charlevoix area was once Weathervane Lodge owned by architect Earl Young in 1959. It’s famous for the Beaver stone by the entrance, its turrets, classic stone fireplaces, and its rooftop bar. The current owners renovated it in 2019, keeping the original structure and adding some modern features.

Its current name is etched on the Beaver stone and modern additions were added to the lobby’s original interior design. Further in, the guestrooms and suites combine contemporary interiors and vintage furnishings. Luckily, The Earl also has a host of modern amenities to keep guests hooked. There are indoor and outdoor pools and spa tubs for luxuriating and an on-site gym for exercising. Plus, you can have cocktails or host corporate events at the rooftop bar.
