About the Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is arguably one of the continent’s most spectacular natural features. The Grand Canyon National Park is situated in northern Arizona and covers much of the canyon. The park is divided into the North and South Rims, and while the North Rim is usually only open between May and October, the South Rim is open all through the year. You can get more information about the canyon in our comprehensive guide.
Tips for visiting:
- South Rim Entrance Gates do not accept cash at this time.
- North Rim is closed to all vehicles between December 1st and May 14th, and visitor services won't be available during this period.
- Even though all visitors need to have an entrance pass, on certain days of the year, such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day and National Public Lands Day, an entrance pass isn't required to enter the park.
