A lot of parades are regularly held in Los Angeles County and there are also a lot of tours to enjoy in Pasadena. One of the most popular ones is the Rose Parade, which is also known by its other name, Tournament of Roses. The parade takes place on New Year’s Day or one day after if New Year’s Day happens to be on a Sunday. Even though the Rose Parade is held to celebrate a bowl game called the Rose Bowl, there are plenty of other things to enjoy, such as marching bands, flower-covered floats, and equestrians if you are not a huge fan of the game. Pasadena’s Colorado Boulevard is the spot where this well-known parade is to be enjoyed.

About the Rose Bowl Parade
The Rose Bowl Parade is part of the grant Tournament of Roses and dates back well over a century! According to the official website of Pasadena, this parade is always held on New Year’s Day, with only one exception. Since the New Year’s Day of the year 1893, which fell on a Sunday, this parade has never been held on a Sunday!
The 5.5-mi (8.85 km) parade route starts at the corner of Green Street and Orange Grove Boulevard and ends at Villa Street, and features colorful floats, marching bands, and even horses.
Tips for attending:
The best way to access the parade is the Metro A Line Light Rail Service. Take a train that starts from Long Beach and passes through the San Gabriel Valley. Some of the closest metro stations to the route are Memorial Park Station, only a 2-mi (3.22-km) walk to the route on Colorado Boulevard, Del Mar Station, 3-mi (4.83-km) north to the parade route on Colorado Boulevard, and Lake Station 4-mi (6.44-km) south to the parade route on Colorado Boulevard.
Since this is a winter activity, dressing in warm layers is a must, especially for children and seniors. It’s also advisable to replenish yourself with fluids during the parade.
