Travel advisory:
Before you start planning your trip to Japan, make sure you check out the travel requirements. For example, all foreign visitors must have a valid passport throughout their stay. In addition, travellers from certain countries—such as China, Russia, the Philippines, and Vietnam—must apply for a short-term stay visa.
Once you’ve gotten your visa, start making travel arrangements. Tokyo has two airports that you can fly into: Haneda Airport and Narita International Airport.
We handpicked these listings carefully, considering (wherever possible) Superhost status, recent guest reviews, location, accommodation type, prices, availability of dates, decor, and access to luxury services and amenities. The image galleries get refreshed with the latest updates regularly. They were last updated on October 30, 2025.
More information about booking an Airbnb in Tokyo, Japan
In January 2024, TravelDailyNews Asia-Pacific reported that Japan topped the list of Airbnb’s trending destinations for the year. Similarly, Nikkei Asia disclosed that the number of Airbnb bookings in the country has steadily increased compared to pre-pandemic times. As such, travellers to the country, particularly Tokyo, should book their accommodations well in advance.
If you’re visiting the capital city, be strategic about where you choose to stay, as some residential areas in Tokyo ban vacation rentals.
