Nitish and Gemma
The route we took to Snowdon started from Betws-y-Coed, which has a famous train station. It’s a lovely spot to begin, and I took Nitish to the little café at the train station for a quick bite. It’s a very local Welsh café where you can hear people speaking Welsh, which gives it an authentic feel. We tried the Welsh rarebit there—it’s like the Welsh version of fancy cheese on toast, with some sauces and melted cheese baked into the bread. It was delicious and perfect fuel for the hike ahead.
On the way from Betws-y-Coed, we passed by Swallow Falls, a stunning waterfall that’s well worth stopping for. It’s such a picturesque spot to stretch your legs and take in the scenery. Further along, there’s a quirky little place known as The Ugly House. Despite the name, it’s actually the cutest little cottage you’ll ever see and makes for a charming photo stop.
