Copenhagen Metro Map

During your stay, I recommend taking the metro to explore. The metro/subway now makes it really fast and convenient (yellow metro line) to reach downtown Copenhagen city centre from the airport (Københavns Lufthavn). The metro goes every few minutes and will take 20 minutes to reach city centre from the airport. With a layover of more than 6-8 hours, there is definitely enough time to get a taste of Copenhagen. Great places to stop on the yellow metro line to experience Copenhagen are Christianshavn, Kongen Nytorv, Nørreport, Forum, and Frederiksberg. Just get off the metro, walk around and get a bite to eat instead of pre-packaged airport food.

71 Nyhavn Hotel is about a 10-minute walk away from the Amalienborg Palace where the royal guards march out every day at 11.30 and walk towards the royal residence for the daily exchange of the guards. For locals, this is a common sight, but as a visitor, it can be fun to see. If you stand on the street opposite the entrance to the royal guards' barracks, you can see the guards much closer than at Amalienborg Palace (which is always filled with tourists at noon).

Tip from Content Creator

This hotel is only 200 meters from Nyhavn, so take a short walk to see the city's pretty colored houses. You can also head to Juno the Bakery for the best pastries (in the world, IMO). It's only about 4 kilometers from here.
