Tangadan Falls, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of La Union, Philippines, is a captivating oasis that effortlessly marries nature's splendor with serene tranquility. The journey to Tangadan Falls itself is an adventure, involving a scenic trek, crossing bamboo bridges, and wading through shallow streams. 

The best time to experience the falls in all its glory is during the months of November to April. This period ensures that the water levels are ideal for swimming and relishing the cool embrace of the natural pool. It's best to embark on the trek earlier in the day to avoid the midday heat and the potential crowds that might gather as the day progresses.

In 2016, my friends and I had a camping adventure in the charming Itogon, Benguet.  With its picturesque landscapes, lush forests, and breathtaking waterfalls, Itogon is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. It is renowned for its lush environment and rich mining history that adds a unique cultural dimension to the experience. Visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture, interact with the warm-hearted locals, and even try their hand at gold panning.

The best time to visit Itogon and indulge in a camping experience is during the dry season from November to April when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear.

What sets Calle Crisologo apart is its remarkable preservation of Spanish colonial architecture, showcasing intricate details and timeless beauty that will transport you back in time. The street's authenticity and well-preserved ambiance make it a must-visit destination.

To fully enjoy the experience, it is recommended to visit Calle Crisologo during weekdays, as weekends tend to be more crowded. The early morning or late afternoon hours are the best time to soak in the atmosphere, as the street is quieter and bathed in a soft, golden light. 

Miagao Church, officially known as the Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva, stands as a remarkable testament to history and unique architectural beauty. 

Constructed between 1787 and 1797 under the guidance of Spanish friar Augustin Alonzo, the church is a tangible representation of the Spanish colonial influence in the Philippines. Its historic significance is enriched by its massive stone façade, carved from local coral rock, and adorned with intricate relief work that weaves Christian and indigenous Filipino influences together.

I had the privilege of witnessing the stunning frescoes that adorn the ceilings and the intricately carved woodwork of the altar. Among the historical treasures, the antique pipe organ stands out, a testament to the musical heritage of the region.

The Baguio Cathedral of Our Lady of Atonement, a splendid testament to faith and architectural beauty, stands as a serene sentinel amidst the lush pine-clad hills of Baguio City, Philippines. The cathedral's unique neo-gothic design immediately captivates visitors with its towering spires, intricate stained glass windows, and a mesmerizing façade. Its construction dates back to the American colonial period.

With historic roots tracing back to the 1920s, the cathedral has witnessed generations of devotees seeking solace and communion. The church's name, Our Lady of Atonement, underscores its role as a place of repentance and reconciliation. Its expansive interior is adorned with vivid stained glass windows. It's nestled on a hill overlooking the city, providing breathtaking panoramic views. 

Oudong Temple, also known as "Phnom Oudong" in Cambodia, is a significant historical and religious site atop a scenic hill. It offers visitors a unique window into Cambodia's cultural heritage. Notably, the temple houses ornate stupas containing the remains of Cambodian royalty, showcasing the country's royal history and the Khmer civilization's artistic prowess.

The temple's well-maintained grounds feature lush greenery and peaceful paths leading to the hill's summit. Along this journey, visitors encounter Buddhist shrines and statues, creating opportunities for reflection and spiritual contemplation. The pilgrimage-like ascent instills a sense of tranquillity and a connection with Cambodia's past.

Oudong's royal legacy is tangible with its remnants of ancient palaces and administrative structures, offering a fascinating glimpse into Cambodia's royal history.

Oudong Temple represents Cambodia's enduring commitment to Buddhism. Monks regularly engage in meditation, chanting, and maintaining sacred spaces. Witnessing these spiritual practices provides valuable insights into the profound role of religion in Cambodian society and its lasting impact on the nation's culture.
