What I loved most about this Taiwanese capital was its efficient public transport system that made it easy and cheap to move around. As a female traveler, I felt safe strolling the city's neon-lit streets and ancient temples. Its plethora of convenience stores are food havens where I could satisfy my late-night cravings for onigiri and milk tea at an affordable price. Attractions such as the historic Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and the tranquil Taipei Confucius Temple can also be explored by visitors for free. Experience Aboriginal Culture & Hot Spring Relaxation In Wulai, Taipei
Wulai is a tourist's dream spot for total satisfaction. It's located only an hour and 20 minute bus ride (#849) away from the Xindian MRT in Taipei. This aboriginal town is home to the Atayal people, and features a magnificent waterfall, nature-centered theme park, and scenic train ride. You’ll also notice a crazy-high cable car ride, night market street full of local eats and of course, its claim to fame, the many riverside hot springs.

A Different Side Of Taipei At The 44 South Village, Taiwan
In between the 1940s and 1950s, many Nationalist soldiers from Mainland China had to relocate to Taiwan along with their families. For this reason, military villages had to be built all around the island, including in big cities such as Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung, etc. Although many villages have been demolished, some are still preserved as cultural and historical sites, including one located in the capital of Taiwan, the 44 South Village (四四南村). Since this site is not always written on usual travel guidebooks, it is still less traveled by, which makes it perfect for travelers who love to take the path less trodden!
