Granada is a Spanish city located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The area is known for its medieval architecture that dates back to the days when the Moors occupied Spain. One of the most notable structures is a large hilltop fortress, the Alhambra. This old complex includes royal palaces, reflecting pools, and peaceful patios from the Nasrid dynasty. The province of Granada encompasses a number of mountain villages and towns. One of these is the village of Guadix, located just outside the city. The locals of the area are often referred to as “trogloditas” because they live in underground houses or caves. The small town dates back to the 1500s and it has an interesting baroque style cathedral worth a visit and a cave museum, along with some shops that offer locally made products, bars, and restaurants. If you are planning to visit the area you should take advantage of the opportunity to experience what it is like to live in a cave at one of these hotels near Granada.

Granada, like any other city, has several peaceful corners. This is mine. In the heart of Granada lies a place that seems straight out of a fairy tale. When you want a place to step away and relax for a few moments, I recommend this spot at Universidad de Granada (UGR).

Enjoy the beauty of the mountains

The Sierra Nevada mountains are a beautiful place to visit. They offer some splendid panoramic views, colorful sun sets, and plenty of outdoor activities. Due to their location, the temperature remains pretty much the same all year long. So you can take advantage of hiking and biking the mountain trails, or see the countryside from horseback or quad. And when your day is done, relax in the comfort of your cave, just like the locals do.
